10 yr trumps 15 yr definitely. I don't drink Laphroaig for the delicate intricacies that additional aging may bring out. I want to know that my first sip of that dram is going to grab my attention and hold it until I'm finished. Having said that, you gotta know I love the 15 yr too. In regard to Bowmore 1964. I have the Black Bowmore bottled in 1993 as a 29 yr old (and I thought it was expensive then!!). Anyone have the good fortune of comparing the subsequent bottlings in 1994 and 1995 (the last)? Also there is a 30 yr old "Anniversary" distilled in 1963 which is very tasty but does not appear to have been first-fill sherry wood aged like the Black. Perhaps it is fino sherry as opposed to oloroso??? However, at about one-third the price of Black, it is an excellent buy, but don't expect the licorice cough syrup blast that the Black has.
