A friend of mine who recently traveled to Schotland and visited some distilleries told me that it is possible to by one or more barrels. Unfortunately he is no Single malt afficionado so he did not pay much attention to the details. Anyhow the idea is not bad at all. If one loves a certain regio or distillery why not investing in some barrels, letting the age at the distillery and and end up with ones own personalised bottling ? Is this possible ? Can anyone provide the details ? I know of at least one compagny who markets this idea as a pure investment. I have nothing against that but I prefer to have it not for sale but for personal use. Every year one does bye bottles for friends and collegues: so why not having a real good islay or Laphroiagh Single malt as a gift..... We do it with wine bottlings from Bordeaux and Bourgogne and it is very aprreciated. Any one can comment on this ? Sincerely, Georges Otte
