Having just returned from a weekend on Islay, I was surprised by the sheer range of whiskies carried in the bars and hotels. Clearly the island is a whisky mecca - and unlike speyside which is so much easier to get to, here the true enthusiast will want to try out rare and different malts 'on the premises'.
