The Ardbeg 15 was released in 1996 as part of a 2-pack with the Laphroaig 10, and it was sold only at select Duty Free outlets and the Laphroaig distillery. Since both Ardbeg and Laphroaig were owned by Allied at the time, this Quintessential Islay pack allowed Allied to bottle and sell whisky from both distilleries.

"Another recent bottling, again for duty free, is the Quintessential Islay or The Malt Appreciator's Dram - two half litre bottles in a little carrying case. One a 10 year old Laphroaig, the other a 15 year old Ardbeg, in itself unique."
