THE GLENMORANGIE WOOD FINISHES RANGE
The Range
For Glenmorangie, the best casks are those which have previously held American bourbon. The bourbon seasons the wood, releases its natural sweetness and absorbs undesirable elements, but does not smother the subtle flavour of the whisky. Our interest in the effect of wood led us to experiment. We tried maturing Glenmorangie in casks which had contained other wines or spirits, but they tended to dominate its flavour. Then we tried transferring the whisky to a different wood only for the final period of maturation. This we called 'Finishing'. It was a great success: the second wood enhanced and developed Glenmorangie's fine flavour without smothering it, and we decided to introduce a range of Glenmorangie Wood Finished Malt Whiskies for you to enjoy.
This unique range of malt whiskies has initially been matured in American oak casks for at least 12 years, then racked into casks which have previously contained Port, Madeira or Sherry for the final period of maturation.
