Nobody understands the magical transformation that takes place while the whisky is in the cask. For Stuart Hoy, one of Glenmorangie's warehousemen, it is as if the spirit has a life of its own - breathing through the oaken walls of its container, expelling harsher alchohols, absorbing goodness from the cask. It is probably only the angels, sampling their 10 gallon share from each cask during the 10 year maturation process, who know how maturation transforms a human creation into the very water of life itself.
